Some unkind critics have, rather unfairly we feel, branded the excellent Scottish character actor Ken Stott as only able to play one role. Best known for his leading roles in television dramas such as The Vice, Messiah and Rebus, Stott portrayed in each of those a dour, troubled, misanthropic detective struggling with alcoholism and depression and numerous personal “issues.”

Well you can strike a line through any doubts you had about Ken’s ability. In his next lead role his is to play a comedian. In the drama Hancock and Joan which deals with Tony Hancock’s affrar with Joan Le Mesurier, wife of his best friend the Dad’s Army star John Le Mesurier Stott will take the part of Tony Hancock, a dour, troubled, misanthropic comedian struggling with alcohol and depression and numerous personal issues.

Nice one Ken.

Kudos to singer - songwriter Brother Bastion for that one.
