It was bizarre, it was hysterical; it was the talent show for tribute acts, people who aim to put on stage not just the music but the whole persona of the world's biggest stars (and Cliff Richard.)
If ever a television show was entertaining for all the wrong reasons, this is it.
There was a fat Frank Sinatra, a thin Elton John, a tall Madonna, a Kylie with a figure that was more cocktail stick than hour glass and a Dusty Springfield with nice legs and a squeaky voice. One of the Rod Stewarts looked more like Rod Hull at the audition but by the time make up had done with him, he had morphed into Vera Duckworth.
The worst tribute act though, bearing in mind that white men blacking up to portray black men has been a no-no since the Black and White Minstrel Show was taken off air, was a Lionel Ritchie who was very noticeable. In fact he was a ginge. To prove this show had real class, the Lionel Ritchie who made it to the final was the white man with ginger hair.
I promise you this show, titled The One And Only though there was not a Chesney Hawkes tribute act in sight, is disturbingly weird. A reality show featuring fake celebrities. And they have not even got to the Elvises yet.

A Chesney Hawkes tribute act is the only thing worse than the original!
