Leftwing Bloggers in America are furious with Barak Obama after he voted in favour of a bill granting immunity from prosecution to telecommunications companies who assist the U.S. Government’s covert agencies in illegally tapping the phones of people they suspect of UnAmerican activities such as knowing who Karl Marx was.
The American left get uptight about phone tapping, just as they get hysterical about suggestions that it might be a good idea to introduce some degree of regulation on the internet to give us a chance of controlling online kiddie porn and other types of crime well suited to the online environment.
Political pundits accuse Obama of shifting to the right on other issues as well, for instance gun control, military involvement in the middle east (how much more can he shift to the right after saying all along he will attack Pakistan?) and support for the involvement of religious fundamentalist organisations in Government projects.
The Democratic Candidate’s response was “people who accuse me of these things have not been listening.”
People have been listening Mr. Obama, its just that up until the last couple of weeks you have talked of hope, dreams, visions and promised change, but you have not actually made a single statement that indicated your position on anything.
