U.S. Civil Rights Group In Call For Assassination Of Obama?

People who get a national holiday named after them are usually dead OK. Guy Fawkes Day, well of course Guy is dead, we killed him. St. Patrick (dead) is celebrated in Ireland, Martin Luther King (dead) is honoured in the USA. Jose Artigas (dead) has a holiday named after him in Uruguay, Cinco de Mayo (dead) gives his name to a holiday in Mexico. Many national heroes do not get a holiday though. There is no Nelson Day or Wellington Day in Britain though both are dead, Churchill does not warrant a holiday and as for Boudicca well we can't even agree on how to spell her name. Scotland's national poet Robert Burns gets a party named afterb him but no holiday (unless you count throwing a sickie the day after because of a hangover) and while John Lennon has an airport most dead heroes have to make do with a street or a public building named after them.

So what's going on when Bias Busters, a Black Civil Rights movement in the U.S. is calling for a new holiday, Barak Obama day, in honour of The Obamessiah's election victory. Are they just carried away with enthusiasm or are they anticipating his Presidency not lasting until he is sworn in on January 20th. Well I think a modest wager on the President elect becoming an ex-President before he is actually President might pay dividends particularly as he seems determined to piss off George W. Bush, the idol of the gun lobby.

  If you go to Cockermouth, stop sniggering at the back, there is a statue in the middle of the Main Street of a chappy named only as Mayo.
  We have often wondered about his claim to fame, condiment maker perhaps, but I never imagined he had a holiday all to himself.
  I wonder if his first name was Cinco?
  Maybe he is a relative, older brother perhaps, Quattro de Mayo?

        After extensive research, BBC has come up with this biographical information for Cinco de Mayo.
        
        Cinco de Mayo Zaragoza was the fifth son born to a family of peasants from Puebla, Mexico in May 1835.
        Cinco was the twelth child, and although named Ignacio by his parents soon became known by his ranking as a male and heir and his month of birth, as was the custom in those parts at the time.
        
        Little is known about Cinco's childhood, but it can be assumed that he spent his time helping scratch a living from the dusty parcel of land the Zaragozas worked.
        Although schooling opportunities were few and far between,Cinco appears to have been a motivated and bright child who taught himself to read, write, do sums and cook, and he eventually left home to seek his fortune.
        Cinco showed exceptional culinary expertise and was soon enlisted in the Mexican Navy as a chef to the Admiralo S. P. D. Gonzalez. His signature dish was a concoction of eggs,oil and vinegar which went down hugely well amongst the officers on board ship and became known by Cinco's faux surname Mayo.
        His reputation assured Cinco thought he had found a cushy number, however with discontent growing over the interest payments Mexico was required to make to France, Admiral Gonzales was despatched to France in an effort to poor oil on troubled waters and negotiate a diplomatic settlement of the dispute.
        
        Having completed the crossing of the Atlantic successfully the ship's captain seems to have become disorientated and turned left at the Isle of Mann. Not having a clue where he was going as his charts made even less sense than they did before, the Captain was soon in collision with a promontory, now known as Barrow in Furness.
        Driven onto the rocks the ship was breaking up when Cinco fought his way out of the galley and jumped into the sea in an effort to save himself.
        Washed up on the beach, dishevelled and disorientated Cinco was taken in by the local fishermen.
        Recovering his strength he soon began to cook for the villagers and word of the wonderful dish he made from eggs spread far and wide.
        The local landowner arrived to sample the dish, in the company of his great friend William Wordsworth.
        Wordsworth was so overcome by the deliciousness of Cinco's concoction he was moved to pen one of his most famous poems, "Mayonnaise" which begins with the immortal lines
        "I wandered lonely as a cloud,
        That floats on high above the haze
        When lost in thought I did espy
        A plate of golden mayonnaise."
        
        Wordsworth immediately took young Cinco back to his former home in Cockermouth, about which Cinco was understandably a bit worried, even with his limited grasp of English, however Wordsworth made provision for the young man to establish a factory to make his delicious condiment.
        Mayonnaise was soon the talk of all England, Wordsworth was made poet laureate in recognition of the help he had given the young Mexican, whilst a statue was erected to Mayo in the middle of the town's main street.
        Cinco was becoming restless and longed to return to his homeland. Leaving the running of his business to his manager, Lazarus Hellman, he journeyed to Liverpool and found passage back to the Americas.
        As soon as the ship berthed Cinco was off, making his way back to his family in Puebla,
        revelling in the beauty of his country in the spring.
        But all was not well in the country, the French had finally got fed up of Mexico's excuses and had declared war. French troops were preparing for battle in Puebla, even as Cinco was hurrying there.
        The French severely outnumbered the Mexicans and were better equipped and all in all it looked like it was going to be a whitewash.
        However word soon spread that Cinco was coming home, lifted by the return of their most famous son, the Mexicans joined battle and fought long and hard, holding their own until Cinco returned.
        On learning of the situation, Cinco rapidly knocked up a vat of his egg dish and then, making his way to the front he led his countrymen right up to the French general's horse. The general looked down on Cinco with haughty disdain, but then he caught the delicate aroma of the mayonnaise.
        "Sacre bleu", he cried, "wot eez zis wondrous dish tu eez laying before moi?"
        Cinco ladled out a plate of mayo for the general to taste and after that the french cause was lost.
        Cinco became known as one of Mexico's great heroes and as the battle had been fought and won on Cinco's birthday it was deemed only appropriate to make the day a holiday.

        Love that, it will find its way into Greenteeth Multi Media no doubts, where I need to get Obama in as a keyword. Isn't it time BBC had his own account and keyword. Now I'm developing the other site (where its a lot easier to catch traffic, we get to keep advertising revenues and we can sell stuff) the team of journos needs to expand a bit. Cleo Hart will be joining soon as our piste correspondent.
        
        I know what you mean about Wikipedia. Who needs factual errors when you can just make up rubbish that has the benefit of being funny as well
